We’re planning a Balkan tour from Jul 25th to Aug 7th, starting from Split, Croatia and all the way down until the Greek Islands, and so far we have everything set up until Skopje; however I can’t find reliable info on Internet about timetables for the ferries going there (looks like the timetables are variable depending on the month). Does any local have any useful info? We’d so love to visit Santorini, I’ve heard great reviews about that place. Thank you!
What's the best way from Skopje, Macedonia to the Cyclade Islands, Greece?

At the moment the only way to get there is by getting to Piraeus or Rafina to get the boat from there.
There is a possibility to get a boat from Thessaloniki but there is not as yet a set timetable.
In any of the links on the site below try to find the dates you want.
Since the time you will be traveling is the high season, extra ferries are running according to demand, but those are set at that time.
Well you are a bit mixed up, Skopje is not in Macedonia. However you could get a bus from there to Salonika, the capital city of Macedonia and from there you catch a ferry or an airplane to Cyclades
Uskub (”Skopje”) is the Capital of Macedonia, an Independent Country, with as much in common with Greece, as North Korea and Sweden! Bus to Salonica (Mustafa Kemal’s birthplace) then an internal flight to any Greek Island of your choice. P.S. Istanbul beckons.
Skopje is in Vardarska, not in Macedonia.
You mean from Salonica, Macedonia of course…..
Otherwise you must be joking.
You are a little bit confused. Macedonia is a Greek territory (since ancient years) and Skopje is another country (today… it was a Greek part once as most of the Balkans were, including most of the modern Turkey). It’s position is above Greece, between Bulgaria and Albania. Look a map here: http://reiki.pblogs.gr/files/67668-GreekMap.gif And look where Santorini is: http://www.google.gr/imgres?imgurl=http://www.askelena.com/greece/santorini/maps/hellas_santorini_map.gif&imgrefurl=http://www.askelena.com/greece/santorini/index.html&usg=__-v6SHpFlDMv90ufvhsw1cSqxcDE=&h=420&w=400&sz=13&hl=el&start=28&zoom=1&tbnid=4xYb-FSMSQzkbM:&tbnh=157&tbnw=155&ei=zRrXTYmuB4fPtAac1pzKAQ&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dsantorini%2Bmap%26hl%3Del%26biw%3D1280%26bih%3D838%26gbv%3D2%26tbm%3Disch0%2C825&itbs=1&iact=rc&dur=324&sqi=2&page=2&ndsp=24&ved=1t:429,r:14,s:28&tx=111&ty=100&biw=1280&bih=838
Also I suppose you realized that Skopje has no sea so… of course you can’t find any ferries schedule
Anyway… I’m not sure how to help you since I never had the chance to search any travel sites, so I can only give you the most common google results: http://www.google.gr/#sclient=psy&hl=el&source=hp&q=travel+to+greece+-+santorini&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&fp=f9e84345b9933889
Good luck and have nice trip
